What We Do
Our Goal
We aim to support the work of others – journalists, non-profits, researchers, policymakers, advocates, and all who are contributing to a deeper and more factual understanding of the structure and impacts of U.S. factory farming. Along with presenting facts and figures, we try to ask the right questions, highlight the interconnections, provide context, and in some areas, break new ground. The more people understand about the wide-ranging effects on animals, society, and the natural world, the less likely they are to support and participate in this system.
The animal ag industry degrades every aspect of the environment including biodiversity, air, water, climate, land, and soil. It creates unimaginable suffering for animals. And it negatively affects the lives of workers, the quality of life for local communities, and our public health and finances.
We believe that presenting comprehensive and credible information about animal ag and its impacts is an effective way to influence behavior, improve policy, reduce suffering, and limit environmental and social damages.
